Register of birth/death of infant
« on: Sunday 23 August 15 16:30 BST (UK) »
I know that my parents had a son in 1933/34 born in a Nursing Home in Liverpool.
The boy lived for about twelve hours.
My parents are long dead & my elder sister (b.1938) cannot help.
Try as I may I have not found any record of either his birth or death.
Is it possible that no registration of the birth/death took place?
Any ideas would be appreciated!

It's likely his birth and death were recorded with no christian name, even if your parents did give him a name. His first name would appear as "Male" in the birth index.

Can you give us the names of your family, to help us look?

Hi
Have just tried that link but only came up with one-Michael born 1936. I have got that certificate but it's not the right one.
Could you give me the name / date for the other please?
Thanks

He shouldn't have been registered as a stillbirth if he lived for 12 hours but I wonder if he was, in which case he wouldn't have appeared on the normal indexes

Just a possibility, as I am not sure of the laws at the time, but if a child had been born prematurely and died within hours would a birth be registered? By premature I mean what was considered feasible at the time.
