Hi
on the other hand maybe John was Sydney's son, and Lillian was John's step mother. Maybe Lillian was Sydney's second wife as it seems strange no mention of John on Lillian's Memorial. Lots of maybes  ;D

May I suggest that you contact the S A State Library asking if they could send you a copy of the death notices, that may solve the mystery, and if you are lucky may also give info on Lillian's family.

I don't think Sydney had been married previously, though I could be wrong, but when he enlisted in 1940 he gave his father as next of kin.
Next step is the S A State library, thanks for the suggestion.

I agree, I doubt Sydney was married with his father as NOK, and he was the only ELLIS enlisted to vote at the Pomona address on the 1937 electoral roll.  There is no marriage in Victoria to 1940 and nothing in the Wentworth area on the NSW Marriage index. South Australian marriage registrations only extend to 1937.

One of the many reasons I suggested outlaying a fee dollars to purchase Sydney's WW2 service file is there is often correspondence etc post discharge.

Sorry for the late reply, have been away on a late arranged holiday.

I've emailed the State Library, so I'll sit back and see what response I get and will keep you informed.

Thanks for all your help

I can’t seem to message you but I am trying to find out about John Harry Ellis as well. I know it’s Sydney son.  I think we possibly live close by. My mum is Margaret
