I still need to tie Peter (Patrick) b. c.1737 to this family but this gives me another avenue to persue.
I'll be in touch when I make further progress.
This book has much more information than I can find on Scotland's people
I would love to obtain a copy of the book can you advise me of the source.

Hi Brian,
             There are two books in the series and it is a local publication done through the local Douglas Heritage Museum. I bought the two and I think it cost £10 and you are right they are full of information about Carmichael families and the history of the parish.
             I am presently working my way through some other publications "Ponfeigh for Douglas Water" (2 volumes) and " A life in landscape" a history of the upper Clyde Parishes. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
