Elizabeth Iremonger marrying John Kettle 1700's ?
« on: Saturday 15 August 15 13:39 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please find a reference to a John Kettle, Birmingham marrying an Elizabeth Iremonger perhaps mid 1700's.  Also if there is any chance that information might give father's name of both. He had a son John who died 1803 (I have a copy of that Will).    And a brother Joseph who died 1757.

I am doing some research on John Kettle, Steel Merchant in Birmingham who supposedly had steel houses in 1708 in what came to be called, Steelhouse Lane, and I am trying to work out when he might have been born and when he died.

I don't know if this John Kettle is he.   I have found various documents at B.ham Library for John Kettle, Steelman or Steel Merchant and then this bit of information that appears to show a John Kettle marrying an Elizabeth Iremonger, with his son John and brother Joseph.

Many thanks for any help.

Just seen your post. Yes, John Kettle married Elizabeth Iremonger of St Albans in about 1723. They had at least three children - Elizabeth who died infant, John and Matthew, before she died in 1729 in Birmingham. I have her ancestry. Best to get back to me on Removed as I might not find a reply here.

Gillian, I am researching my ancestors who lived in Birmingham named Cattell. The early records I have the name has been written Kettle and Kettel. Is it possible that this John Kettle could be a branch of the same family or an entirely different family altogether? The earliest date I have is for a Thomas Kettle 1715 -1767, then his son Edward Kettle 1742-1796 then the name changes with his son William Cattell 1780- 1856.
