Shaw Agnew
« on: Friday 14 August 15 19:23 BST (UK) »
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could please help me. I've been trying to trace my family back for a long time and got it back (with difficulty) to Shaw Agnew b.Kilkeel abt.1818. He married an Eliza/Elizabeth Newell from what I can tell - though I have no marriage certificate or record.

Their children (Rachel, Sarah, Jane, James and Ellen) were baptised at Aanalong presbyterian Church.
My question is whether anyone could help me find Shaw's father? I cannot find many references to Shaw other than the Griffith's Valuation, his children's birth records and his death record (d.1879).

Thankyou in advance!

No need to start another topic looking for the same family- lots of information already found for you:

Look Up Request - Rachel Agnew (Common Room, 2014)

Shaw Agnew (Down, April 2015)

Agnews of Kilkeel (Down, May 2015)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Another son was Alexander.

Amongst the graves in Annalong Presbyterian Church:

Agnew, Shaw, died 01/02/1879 aged 62 and his sons Alexander Agnew, died 17/03/1901 aged 48 and James Agnew, died 07/01/1908 aged 58

GRONI online also has the civil death records for Alexander and James.

The closest person I can find in the 1901 census to James is the following one in Moneydorragh More Upper, which is on the money location-wise:

If this is him, the sisters are another couple of children to Shaw Agnew. This corroborates a post made by Maggsie in another of your threads (reply #4 on "Agnews of Kilkeel" link posted above).
