I have a lot of details about the Nott family of Ashbrittle, Somerset, later in Holcombe Rogus, Hockworthy and East Anstey in Devon.  Happy to share with other Notts!

Hi again BC,
we corresponded on this site some time ago no re: the Notts. Since then I have, with help from some "new cousins" managed to get back as far as circa 1500. Mostly in the Nymet, St George, area but also George Nympton, Chittlehampton and Chulmleigh areas. Please get in touch if you think I could help.

I too have Nott forebears in Chittlehampton - I can go back to Elias Nott born there in 1688, and would be very interested to hear from anyone who would be happy to share any information about Elias and his forebears.

My GGG Grandmother was Thomasine Nott, baptised 7th March 1818 in East Anstey, she was the daughter of James Nott and Ann Norrish.

When searching the parish records form East Anstey I recorded the following burial dates -

Samuel  c1829                6th Nov 1842 aged 13yrs
Anne  c1819                   7th Dec 1828 aged 9yrs
William                           20th Nov 1833 (infant)
John                               23rd June 1826 10 months
Thomas  c1811              11th June 1868 aged 57yrs (suicide cut his throat, inquest verdict 'temp insanity)

Also,  Sarah (London) c1820               18th Dec 1891  aged 71yrs
