Hi Trees,
The Nott family owned a traction engine and combine harvester and living in the village, did the threshing for all the local farmers in and around Dolton, it was not unusual to see the traction engine towing the combine harvester, a trailer, a small caravan and an austin seven hitched up behind on the roads. You can see them all in one of the photographs with the traction engine.

Bill.
Feel free to alter/modify or colour any restores done by me.

baptisms - Thomas son of James and Joan Nott, pauper baptised 22nd Oct 1786
Thomazin daughter of James and Joan Nott baptised 26th Jan 1789
Joan daughter of James and Joan Nott baptised 4th Feb 1791

marriage - James Nott & Joan Collman 27th March 1780 in Hockworthy.

burial - Joan wife of James Nott 4th Feb 1791

It appears that Joan was buried on the same day her daugther was baptised.

I have not been able to find the baptism of James Nott c1782 (Hockworthy). Any ideas where he was baptised.

I'm also descended from James NOTT and Joan COLMAN, via their daughter, Joan NOTT, who married Daniel JENNINGS on 1 Jan 1816 at Pitminster, Somerset.

I don't have an exact date, but I was told that James NOTT (born circa 1782) was baptised at Holcombe Rogus, Devon, as was his sister Sarah (1783), while his brother, John NOTT was bap 16 Jul 1780, Ashbrittle, Somerset.

Cheers,

Sue
