Help please

Not too sure where I should post this, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but I'm new to this web page.  Hope someone can guide me.  I'm not a novice in genealogy, been researching my family tree for some 9 years now.  I've hit a problem.  My 2 x great grandmother was born in Ireland (as shown on Census records), and I've finally tracked it down to 1819 in Ballincollig, Co. Cork.  She is shown as British National Armed Forces, her father (don't know his name) being in the 35th Foot.  Does anyone know where I can trace her birth record please?  She married William Redding who was also a Soldier (90th Foot), he was born in Birmingham in 1821. It all crosses well as they all lived in Floodgate Street in Birmingham.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Marriage certificate to get fathers name?

Hi there.  Don't have the marriage certificate, another thing I can't find.  Roman Catholic marriage, and can't get info from where the records are kept (not very helpful people there).  Bit of brick wall either way.

Have a read through this thread - there is a great deal of information about where to find / research the 35th Foot and within the regimental records I suspect there may be some information pertaining to the marriage you refer to and also the members of married mens families if they were accompanying the regiment in Ireland or overseas.

The only 'birth' record you will get in Ireland a baptism since registration of births didn't start until 1864.

Did she also marry in Ireland? (it's not clear where this refers to "Roman Catholic marriage, and can't get info from where the records are kept (not very helpful people there).")
If Ireland then registration of Catholic marriages also started in 1864 (from 1845 for other marriages including registry office).

Catholic Parish Registers just came online a few weeks ago and you can have a look to see if the records go back far enough (not all records were microfilmed).

According to the birth entry on FindMyPast her father was in the 36th not 35th.

The only Kelly I can find in service records who was in 36th was a Hugh Kelly born in Lanesborough, Longford ca.1791.
