Frederick TONKS marriage 1903
« on: Thursday 06 August 15 10:46 BST (UK) »
Hello

Can anyone help with a look up please?

I have Frederick TONKS born Sheffield 1883, father William, mother Sarah CARTWRIGHT

1901 Census Frederick is aged 18, with East Yorkshire Regiment in Victoria Barracks, Beverley

Free BMD gives a possible marriage q to Mar 1903, Beverley 9d/103
To Hannah REVIS or Jeanie McSHANE

I have all previous Census data but can’t find Frederick or his wife on the 1911 Census.

The medal card for Frederick shows him as private 6640, but no trace of his service or pension records. His regiment could have been in India in 1911. Found a possible death in Leeds 1946 aged 63.

Does anyone have access to the Beverley parish registers & would be willing do a look up of the 1903 marriage for me. Not wanting to buy the certificate as may not be the right man.
Unsure how many churches would be in the area for that time frame - St. Martin, St. Nicholas, St. Mary & Minster Church of St John ?

Apologies in advance if it’s too much to ask

Thank you

If he married in a Register Office then those entries are not available to view.

If he was in India in 1911 he should appear on the census; I have a soldier out there at that time.
