Old building in Chester city centre
« on: Friday 31 July 15 09:11 BST (UK) »
Yesterday I was in Chester and was intrigued by this old building with barred windows, it's right next to the Roman Gardens and I believe it's on Pepper Street from looking at Google maps this morning, that's where I got this screen shot from.  I've resized it according to the instructions on here but it appears to have chopped the right side of the photo off.  ::)  I'm sure a local person will be able to recognise it anyway.  ;)

Yes, it's my old school.   It used to be quite beautiful inside, with lovely gardens.

It looks like a church.   Possibly with an attached convent.

It's not a church, but there was a chapel on the left ground floor part.   The floors above the chapel were classrooms along with other classrooms in the rest of the building.  And it was a convent and school for some years.  The building on the right at right angles was the prep school for the 'tinies'.

And  - there were never bars on any of the windows before it became derelict!

Here's a nice link

That is a very good site altogether.   The nuns who taught were well qualified teachers, and I never can recall religion being part of any lesson apart from RI.  There was a fair number of non catholics there.

Wow that was quick!!! Thank you so much. :)  I noted the windows at the back were all boarded up, it'd be a crying shame for this building to be pulled down for a car park.   :'(

It should have been pulled down years ago and the amphitheatre totally excavated.    Building Court at the back was ridiculous, especially with parking being very limited.

Hello Beeonthebay
Did you notice the sign which describes the building as "Georgian Elegance"?
You would need a vivid imagination or perhaps think a visit to Specsavers was long overdue!
Walking past today we noticed broken windows, windows left open with pigeons being the only visitors.
Why has this Georgian Elegance been allowed to deteriorate?
