Looking for ideas on a situation with the (WIN 7) Backup tool on WIN 10.

I did a clean install to a new disk after a couple of days familiarising with WIN 10 (which upgraded WIN 7 'in place' on the 'old' disk)   .... since then WIN 10 insists its takes a System Image copy of both the 'new' Boot Disk, and the 'old' one ..... which is expensive in storage terms ....

Anyone know why BACKUP considers the 'old' disk to be a 'SYSTEM' disk ?

Could it be that its still got BOOT files showing (I deleted the option to boot it from System Config on the 'new' disk)

Any pointers appreciated ....

Also while we are talking backups, the WIN 10 File Backup feature insists that there are no candidate drives it can use - theres 3 in total, all with plenty of free space ... odd ...

I'm twisted enough to try and solve any puzzles thrown down

P.S. Firefox is my standard browser .... if you're using it make sure you are on the latest version (39.0.3) due to new security flaw.

My main pc (Win7) told me it had one optional update... not Win 10. Clicked ok and hey presto Win 10 started to install.  I selected "no wait till 12th" (it only given 3 dates to chose from ) and yes it totally ignored my request and carried on with the install!

So now, we are totally Win 10.. unsure it that is a good thing or not. Well still have a netbook on Win7 and and old XP machine plus mac etc...

Files are all intact. Photoshop is still here  :D

So now to update Roots Magic 4, I have old trees I want to keep on there. RM 7 for a one name study. And download the card games from the store that were removed.

If you want some different background themes, MS have loads to chose from

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/themes?ocid=w8_client_themes

right click on the background, select personalise. Select themes in the left hand panel
then select Theme settings

under the title "My Themes"
click on Get more themes online... it will take you to the above link.  Just view and download which ones you like and think you can live with. Then view the download it will show in My Themes.   Click on the one you want to use to highlight then close out.

Updated yesterday from Win7 to 10. All went smoothly except for a minor problem with sound. This was sorted by downloading latest drivers from Creative. No problems with any of my software so far (Photoshop, office 2000 .) I use Opera as main browser.  But my sleep function has disappeared! The option from the start button only allows me to select screen sleep.
My OH also upgraded (last week) but his system shows an option to set for PC sleep. We have been going round in circles but can't find a solution. Upgraded video card drivers and other suggestions from user forums but haven't got anywhere yet!
It isn't a big problem but is quite annoying. Anyone got any ideas?

Had the same missing 'SLEEP' option - found something in my BIOS settings that sounded hopeful, (sorry, cant remember now, but I think I set a switch to WIN 8 rather than 'Other OS') - however would depend on your own PCs BIOS -  but also installed new NVidia Drivers, so not sure what fixed it !

I still have no sound on win 10 but looked for drivers , will try again though. Also I've found since bmsgh cd's with Staffordshire monumental inscriptions gives me a list of the churches but does n't open individual churches! So I will need to look at that as well.

Sadly, all the indications are that MS Edge and Mail are still beta versions >:(

They'll probably be as good as IE and Live Mail when they are finished . . .  ;D ;D ;D :'( :'( :'(

Luckily I rarely use MS 'Apps', or programs as we used to call them, preferring the more useful open source alternatives
