Sorry Lostris but you're confusing me. From the Control Panel in Windows 10 (which looks the same as Windows 7 Control Panel), accessing System Configuration is EXACTLY the same as from Windows 7 Control Panel. ie Select Administrative Tools then select System Configuration from the list of Tools presented.
As I said, if you put the Control panel as a short cut on your start menu then you have the same as windows 7 Which also has the control panel on it's start menu.

well, I'll be hornswoggled - I must have looked a dozen times, but missed it.

My apologies !  :-[

No problem. I had the Control Panel pinned to the Task Bar in Win7 and it was still there after upgrade to 10. If not, I may have missed it too.

If you right click on the Windows log (start button) Control Panel is one of the options there along with Device Manager etc.

Alternatively if you want the Control Panel on your desktop right click on the desktop select personalise, then themes and finally desktop icons and select Control Panel which places a Control Panel icon right on the desktop.

Hi, another blip which I think I've caused  somehow.

My start menu/ icons etc have now got a red background .

I've obviously done something accidently but I don't know how to get it back to normal.

Help please.

Thanks

Barbara.

Now then one for the experts! ::)
2 identical Windows 7 laptops updated within 24hrs of each other.
1) Shows the new Windows logo on start up going through to log on (my hotmail account/password)
2) Still showing Windows 7 logo/original log onto machine, then Windows 10 apps as per normal.
Both machines respond identical once started up, with the exception that  desktop image in 2) is still the old backdrop.
[Machine 2) has had a Windows 10 uninstall/reinstall but no changes noted!]

Well, still having problems. W10 has wiped my W7 backups. I now don't know if it's backing up or not. Last night's updates screwed with my backup external hard drive. I'm just nae affa pleased with it. Brings back memories of Windows 95.

Seems like win 10 has grabbed the old image from 7 & is using it as the default.
As you know you can change the login backdrop to any image.
