Hi,

I'm looking for some help tracking down a Gallwey family that was living in County Waterford in the latter part of the nineteenth century. All I've been able to find from newspapers, censuses and other sources is the initial of their first names.

There were two men: H.J. Gallwey and W. Gallwey
and two women (both single): A. Gallwey and F. Gallwey

They might not have been natives of County Waterford, but were certainly in Tramore in the summer of 1877.

Could anyone help in identifying any of these people?

Thanks,

J.

Hi,

Yes, I can confirm that that is the family in question, a very elusive one indeed. Thanks, again, to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

Jus a bye-note
I was browsing some old books and came across the following which I found both amusing and interesting, especially as I had no real reason to start reading the little pamphlet!

It was written in 1937, so the reference to 150 years or so implies about 1790ish
Muckross Abbey is located near Killarney in Co. Kerry

Link to book’s location at NLI; I couldn't see it online otherwise

I suspect that the OP is searching for details of lawn tennis players. It's a shame so many people have done lots of searching to help for information that isn't really wanted and the OP doesn't bother to respond to direct questions at times  ::)
