Finding a cause of death
« on: Wednesday 22 July 15 19:21 BST (UK) »
Hi - some of my family members have been tracing our family, and having great fun whilst doing so.
However, we have contradictory reports on how my Great Grandfather died and I would like to know if it's possible to find out a cause of death on a death certificate from 1943, and if I can access the death certificate somehow.
I don't know if anyone can help me, and if they can, I can supply more details. The newspaper cutting we have says 'collapsed and died before a doctor could arrive'. One side of the family say it was a brain aneurysm after hitting his head on a vehicle, the other day a sudden cardiac event. Death and funeral was in Abergele in Wales, interment in Liverpool.
Thanks,
Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

You will be able to find out the cause of death from the death certificate which will cost £9.25

These links will help you to order the Death Cert. -

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/images/Death%20Cert%20PDF.pdf

https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate

To order a certificate you will need the GRO index reference number, which we'll be able to give you if you post the name of the person who died etc.

Equally you can look for the ref no on -
