The Mortimer Road that was renamed Mortimer Square in 1938 was in Notting Hill.

Ruth - is the address taken from a death certificate? If so where was the death registered?
Might the residence be Mortimer St?

A 1908 map but not detailed enough to be marked:
http://mapco.net/bart1908/bart32.htm
Is it worth looking at the residents of Mortimer
Street
in the 1901/1911 censuses as well?
If the address is from a death certificate, who was the informant?

I think it would be best to wait for confirmation of the district before continuing

Oxford: MATTHEWS, MOSS
Kent: SPOONER, THOMAS, KILLICK, COLLINS

It's not the one in Notting Hill - as has been stated, that was Mortimer Road before 1938.
A number of us responded to this query but Ruth never came back with more information or an acknowledgement.
