Found her parents' marriage gestingthorpe 30 March 1877 but sadly baptism records only go up to 1847 online 😞

How about a Gregory Rawlings b abt 1591 or Mary Rawlings/Jordan b abt 1600? Thanks again for looking this up.

@suea There are children being buried there in the 1880s, so would have been baptisms. There is a John Broyd who married there is 1772. His father was Joseph, whereas your Alice Mary's grandfather was Saunders Broyd. Later, Charles says he's born in wickham St. Paul. Found lots of children baptised to Saunders and Susan, but strangely, not Charles??

Nope. No Gregory or Mary at castle hedingham. There are children of a John Raulin being baptised there 1590s?

On a side note, I have a Frederick Cullens B 1765 d to an Elizabeth Wimberly here in North Carolina in my family tree. Did any of your Cullens imigrate to Jamestown in the 1600's? I have done extensive research on some of my family lines here in that has shown that many of my current neighbors and relatives have been neighbors for many generations. Families like the Rawlings, Goodwin's, Avent's, Ragland's, Cotton's, Cullens and Cross's all immigrated to Jamestown together in 1626 and moved here to North Carolina immediately following the Revolutionary War. Where most of us remain to this day.

John Raulin was Arthur Rawlinge's father. The name seems to be spelled many different ways, I have found it spelled differently depending on the pronunciation at the time. In one case I had to do a DNA test to confirm that it was the same family. What are the childrens names?

I also have a John Rawling/Raulin Son of Arthur Rawling born 1571 in Yorkshire, however I have no other information on him including who he married or where he lived. This would be a closer match since the elder John Raulin would have been 90 at the time the children were being babtised.

The Rawlings family is Norman. And family history states that we came to England with William the Conqueror in 1066, which is what I am trying to determine as true or not with the family tree. And Rawlings in French is Raul the name is of early medieval English origin, and is one of the patronymic forms of the surname Rawling, developed from the Middle English given name "Rawlin". The personal name was adopted from the Old French "Raulin", itself a double diminutive of "Raw", with the Anglo-Norman French suffixes "-el" and "-in". Raw was one of the many variant forms of the male personal name Ralph, in origin an Old Norse name composed of the Germanic elements "rad", counsel, advice, with "wolf", wolf. Raulin is one of the many names that the Normans brought with them in 1066. The name Raulin came from the Norman given name Ralph. This name which also occurs as Ralf, Rolf, and Raoul is adopted from the old French given name Raol. So to think that I might have finally found a connection to the earlier spelling of the name is very exciting!
