Census lookup please, Margate Kent 1851

Can anyone help please? ::) I am looking for Joseph Wells, the only information I have is that he was born in Margate in 1845.

Hi Celia,
I've been through the Margate census 1851, but couldn't spot Joseph Wells. Which census do you have him on that shows he was born in Margate ? Could you post what details you have for him, then we may be able to work backwards to his birth.

likewise 17 Pitt St, children as above except Joseph Jr not present, plus:

William aged 8 born Southwark
Martha aged 6 born Southwark
James aged 3 born Southwark
Thomas aged 1 born Southwark

According to various articles I've read, Joseph senior formed the fireworks company in 1837. 'Fireworks' magazine has information on the history of the company (issues 28, 29 and 48 - back issues are available). The company was eventually sold in 2005 I believe (they had been based in Dartford for many years), although the new company is using the Wells name for some products, as is a Wells Firework Company in South Africa, which is apparently being run by a descendent.
