Research in Palermo, Sicily
« on: Thursday 16 July 15 02:44 BST (UK) »
I am attempting to help a woman who has no knowledge of her birth father.  She has recently undergone DNA testing and we now believe that her father's ancestry would be a mix of Western European, Southern European and Middle Eastern.  We have found a DNA match and we are working on his family lines in the hope of identifying her father.  I am currently looking at a family from Carini, Palermo, Sicily.  While I have found some Sicilian info on Ancestry and Family Search, I cannot find the marriage of the particular couple I am looking for.  I also do not understand any Italian so research could be difficult.  Is there anyone who could point me in the right direction and offer suggestions of how to proceed?

www.geneanet.org
register for free
put in surname - leave the rest blank and search
when results show - then go to place - country - Italy - Sicily - Palermo - Carini and click search again .
good luck
if you need any help , post the surname and years you are researching and someone may be able to help

Thanks for your help.  I have been to the site you mention and performed a search - no luck with the name in that place however.  I was trying to put a request in the "Collaborative Assistance" section but it doesn't seem as though there is any assistance available for Italy.  A very interesting site though - will be back to check it out more carefully. :)
