No birth records
« on: Wednesday 15 July 15 18:06 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am very new to RootsChat but I hope the experts out there can help me.  I have searched all the sites I know for the birth references for William Bryder, born close to 1898 in the village of Tillington in West Sussex to William and Alice Kate Bryder.  He is mentioned in the 1901 census and he fought and was killed in WW1.  I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what I might try to find his birth reference.

Many thanks and regards,

TJP

John William Joseph CARVER was baptised on 18 July 1869 at St Peter, Croydon, son of John Carpenter CARVER and Mary (nee BAKER, married Reigate 16 Apr 1859).

Something may have happened to the parents because, by 1871, 1 yr old John was in Tillington with William and Charlotte T BRYDER as their nephew.  He can also be seen with them in 1891.

Oh dear.

John Carpenter CARVER was convicted of the murder of his wife Mary at Guildford Assizes on 8 August 1870, and sentenced to death.

There is more information available, but you may or may not want to know - just say if you want this explored further.

Going back to William & Charlotte Bryder who may have brought up JWJ Carver - it looks as though Charlotte was nee Carver, sister of John Carpenter Carver.  William & Charlotte married in Midhurst district in early 1860.
