School Archives
« on: Friday 10 July 15 11:25 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks, Can anyone advise me, I am trying to find any info for my WW1 ancestor who attended ( I think?) Russell Street Primary School In Ayr Ayrshire, the family lived in Millars Building, King Street Ayr and he was born in 1899 in Ayr and was KIA in 1918 in France.  Just wondered if a register with his name would have been archived or was there any mention anywhere else in Ayr of former pupils of Ayr Schools who were in KIA WW1.  He is listed on the War Memorial in Wellington Gardens in Ayr.
Many Thanks

Alba

I can only see a Russell Drive in Ayr, but several people appear to have attended Russell Street School:

Have you done a search to see where it was?

Also here:

scan through the images

Added: The above first image (my link) of the school is the WRONG school, it is one at Stony Stratford, so someone working on their family history (Thomasina Chrisite et al) unfortunately got their geography slightly out.

This might be a good place to start your enquiries
This post is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws. Unfortunately my preferred method of writing (Parker Quink on Basildon Bond) cannot be used.
