Ostermilk, ScouseBoy??? And cod liver oil.  And small bottles of orange juice that had to be diluted?  Happy days.

Those were the days, my friend.

We thought they'd never end.

I can picture it very clearly in my minds eye.

The first time I had Laughing gas (as it was called)  to get a tooth out.

I can even still remember  the aroma of the government Issue polish.

Anyway, Maternity and Child welfare  services, which that was,  still came under the local authorities. That must have been why they tended to be built next to town halls, I guess.  I was born in 1949.

I suggest:    "Town Hall and Child clinic adjacent"   as a search term

Or New  Child Clinics built after WW2

I'm thinking old barracks with new barracks adjacent, building with flag post next to gatehouse.

I'd expect there to be more room for parades if it was a barracks.  :-\

OH looked at it and thought exactly the same as me - Edinburgh, even down to the same area of the city, but it hasn't actually got us any further.

Ah well.....

Nell

Added: And we both thought that the noticeboard at the front was more the sort of thing found in front of a church or church hall.

I wonder if it could be a library or college.

It looks like the sort of noticeboard you find in front of a building
with religious affiliation...but I'm sure to be wrong ;D
