Malaya:Edward John Malim

This chap appears on my family tree as a distant cousin.  He married Dorothy Fenton Jean Christian Livingstone in 1915.  They had 3 children before they divorced in 1933.  Following the divorce he went to Malaya as a planter I believe.  His grandson told me he had remarried a local lady and they had children, but he knows no more than that.  I would love to know if he did remarry and whether he had more children, I would also like to confirm when he died.  He was born in 1880 in Balham London.  Many thanks for any help or guidance.

A decree nisi has been granted to Mrs. Dorothy Malim on the ground (sic) of the misconduct of Edward John Malim recently a planter in the F.M.S. (Federated Malay States).

Military Records show a man with this named commissioned in 17th Bttn Manchester Regiment on 1/1/1915. He was later promoted Major and transferred to Machine Gun Corps. Received OBE

I'd like to know more about his upbringing. Was he born in London?  Where was he educated?

Captain Malim was 2nd in Command of C Coy of 17th Bttn Manchester Regiment in April 1915.  He was commissioned on 1/1/1915 on the same day as Reginald Ford, an OTC officer from St Bees College.  His Company Commander was Stanley Kenworthy who was a Master of Merchiston Castle and former pupil of St Bees.  Many of the original Officers had connection with Cheshire and I can't see where Edward fitted.

In the 1891 census I think I've found him at a small private prep school in Moseley, Worcestershire  (Lonsdale House).   Enumerated as John E Malim, age 10, born London.

Captain Malim was 2nd in Command of C Coy of 17th Bttn Manchester Regiment in April 1915.  He was commissioned on 1/1/1915 on the same day as Reginald Ford, an OTC officer from St Bees College.  His Company Commander was Stanley Kenworthy who was a Master of Merchiston Castle and former pupil of St Bees.  Many of the original Officers had connection with Cheshire and I can't see where Edward fitted.
