As far as the Archway records are concerned - you won't know how helpful they will be unless you order them for viewing, and read them.  Ordering instructions etc are on the site!  I'm not familiar with that procedure, so can't explain more about how, sorry.

Disappointed. The Liepzig board of council? Whatever it was I was instructed to email for information. They never got back to me! I guess they can't understand English. I don't know. It's been several days?

You wrote a letter to an organisation in a language (English) different to their own (German) and complain they haven't replied after 'several days'  ::)

They may have a very small staff to deal with any such queries & some of them might not be in the office this time of year, the person who deals with queries in English may be busy, their files may be in storage or off-site... Any number of reasons why it's been 'several days.'

When doing any sort of research you need to be patient.

How do I know patience means they will reply?
I don't know how the system operates.
You can't blame me for not knowing how it works.
I was instructed to message them by people familiar with how it works. No one said it will take a long time.
Not a very courteous and respectable reply.

Wow Genegirl - how to rub people up the wrong way and ensure you receive no further help on rootschat!  :o

May I suggest that yours was not a very courteous and respectful reply to a perfectly reasonable, helpful and civil reply by aghadowey.  ::)

If your request to "Liepiz or wherever" was so rude and unreasonably demanding then it is no wonder they didn't reply.  ;D

Good luck with your research.

I think you are being entirely unfair both to Ruskie and I as well as other Rootschatters. We are certainly not trolls. If you look you will see that we both have a large number of posts (many of mine date back from when I was a global moderator here so well used to dealing with problem members) and we have both done an incredible amount of research, both personally and for many other members.

You don't know that the archives will reply but you will just have to wait and see.
You knew they were based in German and you knew that you wrote to then in English.
No one can say how long it will take to get a reply.

What I pointed out to you earlier was merely commonsense but if you expect instant results you are bound to be disappointed.

Using this  ::) emoticon was a rude gesture, so you can't blame me for feeling attacked. I'm a newbie here and to ancestry. Knowing you have been here a long time, you should be more aware that I'm new, and how rude it is to use such an expression. Commonly used by children.

I've been very grateful for every bit of help I've gotten.
FYI I was very courteous and polite to the council.

Great news, I found our Walter had a sister called Toni.
Presume her last name would've been Fehse as well. She lived in New York
Is anyone able to find anything?
Thank you so much :)
