William Wesley Clemesha
« on: Thursday 25 June 15 20:09 BST (UK) »
am looking for 2 marriages for william wesley Clemesha.

i know he married Ada Jane South in 1896 but in my research he had two further marriages

1 to Margaretha Isabel Shauff b 1879 and they had a child Molly Wesley Clemesha born 1908     and then he married Frances Daphne Dansey-Browning

I believe that he may of been married in canada or usa or new zealand which is where he died in 1958

Am also looking for the death of Margaret Emma Clemesha born 1873 in Preston, she emigrated to Australia but dont know if she died there or in the UK

Am I right in thinking that Ada was still alive when he had a child with Margarethe? In which case, barring a divorce (of which no sign in the National Archives) he would not have been free to marry her.

According to the tree I mentioned in your Sylvia thread, Ada Jane Clemesha, wife of William Wesley Clemesha Lecturer in Medicine, died in Surrey UK 18 Jun 1948. The actual cert is shown in the tree, as their original marriage cert.  So it would appear that William would not have been free to marry Margarethe. The tree owner also indicates that William married Frances after the death of Ada.

This tree is a wealth of info if you can gain access to it through a personal sub or via public access through your library. One must be careful with trees, however, b/c they are only as accurate as the research carried out by the tree owner. In general, trees should be used as a guide to your own research. Having said that, this particular tree appears to have been well sourced with numerous attached records.

That's a great tree!

Unfortunately, I really don't think you are going to find a marriage for William and Margarethe.
