I did try the Family Search link you gave me, thank you --- unfortunately the Will I was looking for -- Edward Fielder Butler, 1914, wasn't included yet. At least I couldn't see it. I was amazed that Family Search had those records on their site.

I have tried all the links I have been given actually -- the Newspaper one is really good -- more user-friendly than the UK one.

I hadn't found that - although I did find his fathers burial record.
Edward Fielder Butler had married an Annie Matilda Wallace in 1863 (Ancestry transcribed record).

He couldn't have been in NZ long at that point. Clearly fell hook, line and sinker for a local lass.
