As far as religion is concerned, they were Roman Catholics. They went on to have a family of at least eight children. The oldest son (my ggrandfather) was named John and the next son was named Terence. This may be significant. John worked as an ironstone miner and as there seem to be several Colvin families in the Cambusnethan area, it may be that they are related.
John's wife was Catherine O'Neill from Co. Monaghan. I believe her parents were Henry O'Neill and Elizabeth Dounan (not sure of the spelling of the surname) and that she was born in 1933.
Sorry, as you can see, John's wife was Catherine, not Elizabeth.
