Hi,
I'm not quite sure if I'd like to be found if I didn't want to be found, and to have my family names splashed over the internet. The numerous number of new posts today that are looking for living people makes me feel a bit on the uncomfortable side.

Well done to all those who were involved though. I didn't see  the programme, I'm in Aus, but it seems a very good result  :)
Kind Regards :)

Admins are doing a very good job at removing names from all the newbie posts asking for help tracking down living relatives -- and referring the posters on to other sources of info

They certainly have their jobs cut today that's for sure ;D
I've seen too many of the posts before the names are removed.

Kind Regards :)

I've just watched the programme and read the thread. What an amazing story.

I felt though that the programme gave rather the wrong impression of Rootschat, describing it as '...a free internet family finding service......staffed by amateur people finders.....'  :-\

I doubt that the mods have time to look at every post to check.  I do sometimes use report to moderator to bring things to their attention ie email addresses & living people.  I have been told in the past that they appreciate this being done.  ;)

I do the same, Rosie. It isn't always obvious from the title that living people are mentioned, so the more of us that report it the better.

It is just a pity that so many people were given a false impression by the way RC was mentioned by the programme producers and will therefore have their hopes dashed. Hopefully though, if they follow the links people are giving them they may have some success.

I'm another who frequently uses the "Report to moderator"!

I reckon the mod's need all the help they can get! ;D

And now I've just watched the program and the tears are flowing. I'm so glad they had a happy outcome.

Rootschatters are the best.

It's a shame that the new members don't read what the forum is about before jumping in and posting their requests. I suppose they are looking for a glimmer of hope after seeing the programme.

They are certainly keeping us very busy.

Please continue to use the 'report to moderator' button if you do spot the ones that slip through the net.

Unfortunately the moderating team isn't online all of the time but we all get the r2m notifications.
