With the fact that the lad was coming back from the station to Down Ampney when he met Thomas the accident was probably near Latton. I would think between Latton and the turning off of Ermin Street for Down Ampney.
 
[ The station mentioned was probably the Railway station at Cricklade ]

It is the inquest has reported in the Swindon Advertiser, The Advertiser and a Gloucester paper I cannot remember, would have been the local paper. The Swindon Advertiser back issues are on film at the Swindon Library. When I was there I had a look and copied the report, hopefully with no errors.
