New to this part of the world searching for ancesters.

I am looking for the following family and l have no more to go on.

John HART

married to

Ellen Mary

Children:

James Patrick HART b. 1820 Tipperary (convict sent to Tasmania Australia in 1844)

John

Frank

Mary Ellen

Jamison, the Roman Catholic church records are due to come on line for free on 8th July from The National Library of Ireland so you will then be able to do a search for the Hart family in Tipperary.
Alternatively you could try www.rootsireland.ie (pay site) which covers Tipperary.
Also www.nationalarchives.ie for Census - Tithe Applotment - Griffith Valuation records. Civil Registration didnt arrive in Ireland until 1864 so you would have to rely on church records.

There are a few John Hart in Tipperary North Riding and Two more in Tipperary South Riding

But that should at least narrow down the parishes you need to search.

The parish listed on GV is the Civil Parish not the RC parish so you will need to check which parish the townland is in.

Hi,
The Tithe books show John Hart in Ballygibbon, Ballymackey and Modreeny.
These places are near to each other. The nearest town is Nenagh.
There is a birth record for Mary in 1824 born to a John Hart and Mary Evans.
The Parish is Roscrea (pronounced ross  cray)
There are 3 other children
John b 7th Oct 1821
Owen b 1820 (this Eugene)
and a Pricilla b 1817
This may be them, I am not saying it is, but this is the closest by the Tithe books.
The Tithe books are from 1823 to 1837. Taxes paid.

Hi Maggsie
Well, every little bit helps in finding them.
It says on (James) Patrick Hart's convict records a place in Tipperary called Nenagh.
So it is a start !!!
Along with his parents and siblings names - as mentioned above.

Nenagh is a (biggish) town, it could be where he is from or where the court case was held.

I guess that was where it was held but must not live to far from there.
As a rule of thumb you end up at your local magistrates court before being referred to another.
