Searching for 2 births Tollett and Tallot in Melbourne.

I'm trying to find 2 births in Vic but my cd's won't work on windows 7 or 8.

However, in the meantime...not the spelling of surnames please.

Thomas TALLOT and wife Miriam had 2 children, Walter and Harriet in UK.

The discs will work on Windows 7 with a 32 bit operating system.

What is Miriam's maiden name?  I cannot see any birth registrations in Vic at all for your couple.

Spelling of the names of this family seems to cause problems for compilers of records!!

Looks as though Marian's maiden name may have been WHITLEY

1851 census:
at Handborough, Oxfordshire (all b Handborough)
William Whitley   60, ag lab and his children:
Henry Whitley   19
Robert Whitley   16
Martin Whitley   14
Eleazer? Whitley   12
William Whitley   10
Mary A Whitley   7
Thomas Tallott   24, son-in-law
Mirian (sic) Tallott   22, dau, glover
Walter Tallott   1 2 Mo, grandson

Looks like a brother of Marian listed with his wife in the next household.

A few on-line public trees have these dates for births in Victoria, but no certificates or proper references.

Hi Jackie,
Suggest you try Victorian Govt online free site for passengers arriving to Port Philip -- In two groups one for assisted passengers the other for Unassisted passengers.
Secondly, TROVE another free site may yield information. Just type in the surname, then filter by State, Victoria then decade and see what's there.
Thirdly go to site GMCT which means Greater Melbourne Cemetery trust.
Fourth.  Try Carol Judkins Cemetery site online as well.  Large number of cemeteries listed -- again enter the surname and see what comes up.  Carol will also send photos of any headstones you find and want.  Free of charge.

Thomas Tallott & Miriam Whitley also had Luke Thomas Tallott, born 1847 at Handborough, Oxfordshire/

Thomas & Miriam had 11 children.

I am descended from their son Sidney E Tallott.
