Help with reading a word please

Hi, Can you please help me to read the word above the word 'labourer'. It is on a marriage certificate from 1927.

yeah that's what I thought...but not sure if the 'dot' above the word means there is an 'i' or if that's just where the pen hit the page! Thanks
