Why do you have to shut down, or even close the laptop if you're just moving it to another room?  Just leave the lid up and carry it wherever you need to.  Take the lead and plug in again in another room too.

If there is no battery the computer will go off as soon as it is unplugged won't it and so won't close down properly?  The answer is a very long lead!  ;D

Sorry hadn't realised the battery was totally dead.

Mine downloaded on the desktop PC when I turned it on this afternoon, so already to go when given the nod.

As Groom said, no battery as it doesn't now work so as soon as you unplug the mains lead equals no power!!

No, just reserved a copy from the reserve button. When I logged on yesterday to both desktop and laptop I installed what I assume was the final pre windows 10 update and after I restarted both of them, the download started, all 6GB of it onto each machine.
I assume that when I switch them on tonight, there will be an install button on my task bar, so I'll give it a go. Anything to replace Windows 8.1 on the desktop is fine with me, it can't be any worse. If it feels ok I'll update the laptop from windows 7.

I just hit the Windows 10 icon in the taskbar (already reserved last week) but it just said "We will let you know when it has arrived".  Clicked on the icon 2 seconds later and its now downloading.

I'll check the laptop to see 10 its already downloaded.

I'll wait a couple of days to see the reaction on here and other forums, then I'll to do a backup first before doing the upgrade.

Interesting that you've effectively got it a day earlier than announced - are you in NZ ?   :P :P
