Where were they headed?
« on: Monday 01 June 15 14:07 BST (UK) »
Relations of mine travelled to the USA in 1919 and they appear in the Ellis Island Passenger lists.  Their final destination is given as:-  N.M. Mexico City.  As far as I can find there is/was no Mexico City in New Mexico.  So were they headed for somewhere in the state of New Mexico, USA or Mexico City in Mexico?.  If it helps their fare was paid by The Anglo Mex trading company who seemed to have been involved the supply of mining hardware.

Looking at the passenger list leaving Southampton ,their names were William J and Florence A Franey.

But on the list of those arriving in the USA there is indeed a Harold J and Florence A Franey very odd?

If you are logged in to Ellis Island here is the link for their entry

Genealiza - yes that is his death.  He re-married as Florence died.  He remarried in England.  When he moved to Canada I'm not sure.  I have had contact with his son who still lives in Canada but we have lost touch

Had found the return trip for Harold in 1922 but not the Mexican border crossing - Looks like he was heading for Mexico City, Mexico  :)
