On Cheshire BMD it shows George Dawson being born in 1861 and his mother’s maiden name being Dawson. It says the Subdistrict is Audenshaw and that she Registers him at Tameside. George says he was born in Droylsden on census reports and ships’ manifests. Can you explain the relationship between Droylsden, Audenshaw, Tameside, Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire to me? I think England has at least one additional geographic division than I am used to. In Maine where I live we are first divided by counties and then towns. I think England has, districts, subdistricts , counties, and towns, but I get confused. So was George born in the town of Droylsden, in the subdistrict of Audenshaw, in the county of Lancashire? Where does Tameside and Ashton Under Lyne come in? I think I have seen things about George and Ashton Under Lyne as well. Thank you.
