Woodbury 1841

Trying to find out who was living at Ballymans Cottage in Woodbury, near Exeter,  in the 1841 census, also , more importantly, what were the names of the houses on either side of it and who was living in them.  The cottages were on the main road through the village, now known as Broadway.  Can anyone help, please?

FindMyPast is the only website with an address search facility but the Terms & Conditions of membership prohibit publication of that type of info from it's website

Thanks, Carole.  It's disappointing that the address search facility is only available through a subscription site.  In previous times I have been able to work my way round a whole village house by house via the old Family Search LDS site, but this doesn't seem possible any more (unless I haven't got to grips with the new version properly).

(Added later:) Have discovered that a Richard Kenwood lived at Ballymans in 1881, but I'm still wondering who lived next door and whether next door was given a name at that time (Holmdale, perhaps?).would the census ref. RG11 2140/69 page 6 help?

Woodbury 1841 only has 10 pages.
Search for Elizabeth Payne  living in  Devon and she will put you on the first page of address entries.
the village is just shown as The Village, (one and a half pages) no street or house names, though there are house/farm names later.
All you can do really is search through the pages till you find any names that ring bells.

Shows under Woodbury that there are a number of books about Woodbury, the names index to one of them: Woodbury a view from the beacon; mentions Ballymans  I have found a reference to copies of this book being available on ABEBooks

I have done a lot of research on some of my family who were living in Woodbury in the 19th century and it is frustrating to see 'In the village' as their address.

However the village has a very active and helpful local history group and I found this out by accident on an unplanned visit there a year or so back -I got lots of info from their very helpful archivist Gill Selley, and they have put lots of old pics and maps online.

As well as the village website they have an online magazine Woodbury News (woodburynews.co.uk), in the most recent one on page 11 it gives the archivist's telephone number and email address..I hesitate to post it here, maybe worth a try with the wealth of local knowledge they have.

Thank you, both, for your very helpful suggestions.  I had forgotten that the 1841 census doesn't give house names, though later ones do. 

Actually I have quite a lot of information about Ballymans, a Grade II listed building, dating probably from the 17th century, which was given to me by the archivist of Woodbury Local History Society.  As well as the cottage there were several other buildings, an orchard and a well on the little "estate", but my real interest is in the cottage which abuts Ballymans - can it be as old as Ballymans and was it always a house or perhaps just a barn/workshop at first is what I'm searching for.  I'll check the maps on the website to see if they help.
