Elizabeth (COX) DICKSON w/o John death date?
« on: Sunday 17 May 15 19:21 BST (UK) »
Sarah "Elizabeth" (nee COX) DICKSON was b. 1884 Co Tipperary. She m. John DICKSON 30 Aug 1913 in Lisburn, Antrim. She was a nurse. John d. in Northlands,Whitehouse Park, Belfast 18 Dec 1963. I do not know where they are buried but m. says they were Church of Ireland. I do not know if she died first, but suspect she did as his will description does not mention a widow. Would like her death date and if possible cemetery info. Thank you for any help at all.

There's really no indication that Elizabeth might have died before John by looking at the Will Extract-
Dickson, John Herbert of Northlands Whitehouse Park Whitehouse county Antrim accountant died 18 December 1963 at Whiteabbey Hospital county Antrim Probate Belfast 10 March to Herbert Edwyn George Dickson accountant and Shelia Elizabeth Mackle married woman. Effects £521 8s.
If Elizabeth was alive it might just be that Elizabeth, being elderly/infirm was not a suitable person to have to deal with the probate paperwork. That paperwork (at PRONI) might show his marital status but his death certificate certainly will do so.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you for responding. I never thought that she may have been infirm. I am in Canada so a trip to PRONI is at the top of my "bucket list" - things to do before I die. :)

You can view John’s death certificate on-line and find out from that whether his wife was still alive in December 1963. (It should either say widower or married man, depending on whether she was alive or not). You can view the certificate on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

(You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2 to a view a certificate).

For the will, you can e-mail PRONI and they will copy it, and the rest of the probate file, for you (for a fee).
