William George GILES born c1874 Shoreditch.

Hi Caz,

Thanks so much for your help, to be honest l`m not sure if this is my William?, on the 1901 census William gives his place of birth as Shoreditch, London!, l know it`s not unusual for people to give different places of birth on different census.
Also William married Emma Jenner in 1893 in Croydon and William was a decorator!!, it`s all very confusing and l`m going on.

Hi Robert.

The only other ones that are close to his Birth year are :

William Giles c1877, Thames Ditton, Surrey.
Parents : John & Jane
Job : Labourer.

William Giles c1870, Felday, Surrey.
Parents : William & Jane
Job : Gardener (i think)


So if he was a Decorator by the time he married, that does sort of tie in with the cenus details i gave you earlier.....his father on that being a House Decorator.

This obviously needs checking out, as you said the fact of the locality and the occupation does suggest that this is my William.

 Lucy Giles abt 1878  S Norwood, Surrey, England Daughter 
 Wm.G. Giles abt 1873  Islington, Middlesex, England Son 

I could not find this Wm G Giles in 1891, but his brother, James is a painter.
