« on: Thursday 14 May 15 11:09 BST (UK) »
George METCALFE
born illegitimate  26th Jan 1916 in Beccles East Suffolk to Anna Metcalfe formerly Bradnum.
Date of emigration unknown.
Allegedly owned a sheep farm in Queensland.
Letter written by his son to Eastern Daily Press the Norfolk county newspaper in late 1960's as he had been corresponding with a family member who had lived there.
George himself may have died in the early 1970's?

What happened to him and his family? I am not interested in whatever the loan was as that's none of my business. Elsewhere I managed to track down some Canadian relatives only to be made as welcome as a dose of Ebola so I'm not expecting garlands of flowers or an inclusion on anyone's Christmas card list.

I haven't a clue if this is the right George but there is a marriage on the Qld indexes for a
George Norman METCALFE in 1939 to a Gwendoline Mary DUELL It was not in Brisbane but the index only signifies two options Brisbane "B" or Country "C".

No ebola here, thank heavens, not interested in Christmas Cards, nor flowers. The privacy laws in this country are going to be difficult to your search as available Birth registrations only go up to 100 years ago, IE April 1915 possibly a mention on "TROVE" archived newspapers. Just google that up!

After a quick read of your former post, is his name METCALFE or BRADNUM?

As for deaths the index shows one for the George Norman in 1963 but parents are wrong Norman and Alice. There is another death in 1969 of a George Samuel with Parents William and Mary Jane.

Sorting out all the British people who owned all the Sheep farms in Australia is going to be difficult, seems like everyone who came over bought one or more. ::) I wish some could have just gone to work on one. ;D

Cheers for the info Neil ... His name was George Metcalfe as far as I know though even on official docs the E at the end is generally ify depending on the inclinations of the writer in my experience.

Modified...I might add that tracking living family is not the purpose of Rootschat. We kind of work backwards not forward.

I would maybe buy this certificate.

1984   REF # 57840   George METCALF   NO parents listed

https://www.bdm.qld.gov.au/IndexSearch/querySubmit.m?ReportName=DeathSearch

It should detail marriages, children, birthplace?

No deaths for Bradnum, Bradnem, Bradnam between 1950 and 84
