I am seeking details on ancestry of Peter Haggart born 1818 Burly Kinross, died 4 Sept 1883 Whitelaw Liff.

As he died in Scotland between 1855 and 1964 you can view his death certificate at modest cost by going to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, investing in a few credits and using some of them to download it. This will tell you his occupation, the full names of both parents, including his mother's maiden name, and the names(s) of any wife or wives, when and exactly where he died, cause of death and who registered the death.

I presume that you have his place of birth and DoB from the 1881 census. He was shown as aged 63. Since the census was taken on 3 April 1881, this means that (assuming he gave his age accurately) he was born between 4 April 1817 and 3 April 1818, and the usual spelling of the place is Burleigh.

Burleigh is in the parish of Orwell and county of Kinross (or Kinross-shire).

Bit of a difficult one.
Obviously the Informant on his D/C did not know his Mothers name.

Did he Marry Isabella MONCUR, 11 April 1841, Longforgan, Perth, Scotland ?
If so in 1851 he has been indexed as born c 1820 Redgorton, Perthshire.

On all Census Isabella is born Longforgan, Perthshire, even the ones she is just down as Mrs 1871/1881

I had a look at the 1855 birth certificate of Isabella for you on a Scotlandspeople and that gives her father's age as 35 and place of birth Kinross. Isabella the mother was also 35 and born in Longforgan. They were living at Mains of Gray in Liff and Benvie. She was the fourth child, the others being two boys and a girl.

I could not find the same details of the Census 1851 / 1861 on Scotlands Peoples. I am not sure of the index source mentioned.

BC indicates Peter married to Isabella Moncur and also his father was James.

I have all the Moncur ancestors etc.

It is Peters wife and father James details / ancestors that is confusing / missing.

I am a direct descendant of Peter and have all the descendant details if anybody wishes to know.
