Connolly landed estates in Ireland
« on: Friday 01 May 15 19:46 BST (UK) »
This started after the Williamite War (1689-91) when William Connolly, a lawyer, traded in the lands that were confiscated afterwards.  He became extremely wealthy and owned a huge amount of land throughout Ireland.  His family held these lands for more than 200 years.

Can anyone recommend a good book on this subject?  ....even better if it focused on lands held in County Donegal.

Also, I will be in Dublin in two weeks, will visit the National Library, as well as the National Archives.  I would love to find any of the estate papers that apply to where my grandfather lived, in Teelin, Co. Donegal.  I'd appreciate any suggestions that would help my research.

Is this him http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Conolly
There is a book in the reference, the family papers are in Northern Ireland, assuming this Wikipedia entry is correct.

This should be useful it lists where all the family papers are, including the National Archives in Dublin and the NLI.
