Astwood's Oldest Inhabitant - WRIGHT

While you are in the mood for looking at old newspapers, i found this entry on "findmypast"

pretty wedding: took place at All Saints', Wellingborough, on the 30th. The bride Miss .Edith Annie, second daughter ol Mr. William Wright, of Astwood, and the bridegroom William Albert, second son of Mr. Reuben Wright, of Astwood. The bride was
08 November 1901 - Bedfordshire Times and Independent - Bedford, Bedfordshire, England 

I can't read the whole article as i am not subscribed to the site, but its an interesting find.

Essentially these two where related, albeit cousins. Edith, the daughter of William, who is a son of John and Francis Wilding (Ann Wilding's sister as we know) John is William and Ann Faulkner's son, and this William is of course the son of Charles and Ruth and the brother of Charles, another of Charles and Ruth's sons.

This charles of course, who married Ann Bason, had a son John born in 1797 who, as we know marries Ann Wildin.

There son Eli has a son Reuben who is the father of William.

I certainly occured to me this was the case but its the first actual proof i have seen.

My brain hurts now..... !!!!

Thanks Mike - I have the couple living in Welingborough on 1911 census with 4 children born there 1903 to 1910. I had the marriage in Dec qtr 1901 but this report confirms the family connection, both parties descending from Charles & Ruth. The report has Edith's sisters Emily & Mabel being her bridesmaids.

So following the death of Mrs Stephen Wright .... it seems that Reuben Wright was the next oldest inhabitant of Astwood, from Beds Times 11 Aug 1939

I love these articles. I need to match up the names of Reubens mourners, in particular, who is Mrs L Wright.?

Well that would make sense but i now have to speak to Dad and say "you know your uncle Leonard who never married, well.... "

So the mourners,

Mrs A Stott is Mabel Agnes, she had two illegitamate daughters and spent time in the workhouse while her children where looked after by Reuben and Sarah.

Mr and Mrs F Evans are actually one of Mabel's Daughters, Maud and her Husband.

Mr and Mrs G Wright is George and Rosa.

Mrs F Litchfield might be Mabel's other daughter Florence.

Annie Wright, another daughter married Edmund hobbs?

D Wright is Daisy Blanch Wright

W Wright is probably William as i had Walter dying young.

Mr T Wright? Don't know who he is either....

Did your Leonard Wright die Dec qtr 1961 age 70 as per death index in North Bucks RD

Albert Edward Stott married Agnes Mabel Wright in Jun 1909 in Bedford RD ref 3b/694  In 1911 in Rugby Warwicks is an Agnes Mabel Stott age 28 born Astwood, married to Albert Edward Stott age 27 born Walworth London, they've been married for 2 years.

Did daughter Mary Jane Wright marry Frederick J Litchfield in Newport Pagnell RD in Sept 1915

She was, i believe christened mabel agnes but this is the same person, i have had contact with her ancesters.

Mrs Litchfield, yes i think this is more likely.

Leonard was married and died in 1961. The decor in his former home is from this period.
