If you know his home town you should look at the local newspapers are already suggested. If there were lots of local men wounded you will just his name on a list, and so no further help. if there were only a few that week you many even get a photograph from his family.

A new question on the correct county section should help with the availability in the local record office, and maybe an offer of help.
