William Isaac Locker

Hi

I am trying to find William Isaac Locker on the 1871 & 1881 census but no luck. I can find him on the 1891, 1901 & 1911 census. He married Mary Simpson 1886, Kirkdale, Liverpool and his father was noted as William Locker. He was apparently born 1861 Gorton, Manchester. Any help would be much appreciated as he has been very elusive!

did you get the Gorton birthplace from a census ??

added - something strange here - every record since his marriage has him as William Isaac Locker
16th aug 1886 at St Marys ,Kirkdale ,Liverpool
all his daughters marriages and his death - all under William Isaac Locker - but no records whatsoever before the marriage ??

The only possible connection I can see, which isn't too helpful is that there is a William Locker b 1842, Buxton.

1861 2941/6/5 he is a visitor, unmarried in Manchester

1871 3983/87/15 He is married, with two brothers (I assume) and living in Openshaw - close to Gorton

1881 4019/50/34 he is a widow living with his brother in Beswick, Manchester - close to Openshaw.

There is no sign of William Isaac. I haven't yet found a marriage for William. He is not the one in some indexes marrying Harriet Ann Moss in 1869- he is Cocker.

We have that. I meant the William from Buxton who is in the right area at the right time of William Isaac's birth but no other evidence!

The William Locker B Buxton 1842 is with his mother and sister in 1871 as well as his two brothers. Elizabeth Johnson was Elizabeth Locker who married James Johnson after becoming a widow. Charlotte Locker b 1845 married a William Ransford in 1862. I noticed that Alfred Locker Ransford aged 8 is with her but she has returned to the surname Locker.
