Knowing that Birmingham was famous for it's quality 'Carriage Lamp making' in the 19th century,
I am trying to find out if in fact there exist a list of apprentices to that trade anywhere in Birmingham records ?
Reason :
George Tillman b. 1805 to Peter and Tammy Tillman in Lympstone Devon, was trained somewhere to become a craftsman in this trade, and the start of three generations of Carriage Lamp makers in London.
It appears that the trade did not appear in Devon, and Birmingham was the center. George's father Peter died in 1816, so would be logical that sometime between then and 1822 when Tammy remarried and went north to Scarborough, George would have been put into Apprenticeship - but where ?
George married Elizabeth Lerway in 1828, marriage shows that he was a Carriage lamp Maker and that the lived in kings street Finsbury London, but am finding it impossible to trace London Makers.
