Does anyone know where Prospect House in Byers Green was,

Prospect House was adjacent to Garden House and West End House, which were near Brockwell Street and Harrison Terrace, so was one of the buildings opposite the Allotment Gardens as shown on this map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/422110/534218/12/101064

Hi, I am researching my family tree for my mam. Her dad was James william wigham he died in 1954 when my mam was 3 years old. I know he lived in fishermans cottage willington with his parents Ellen Stelling and John wigham and his brothers and sisters. If anyone has any information I would really would really appreciate it. My mam has always wanted to know about her dad's family thanks.

Your James William Wigham was my uncle,he died the year before I was born,my Dad was Matthew Wigham,he was the youngest in the family of John ( Jack) Wigham and Ellen Stelling,my Dad was born in Byers Green so they had obviously moved by 1930 to Prospect House Byers Green,he was known as James Willie,I don't know what actually happened to him,can recall my Dad saying he was wounded in the war,he was at Dunkirk,my Dad always said he died from wounds later but I'm not sure,you would need his death certificate,I have researched both the Wigham and Stelling Family tree's,would be happy to corresponde with you,Isabella who was James sister was the last to go,she died 2 years ago,my Dad died in 2006,JAmes siblings were Richard,Doris,Mary,Isabella,Matthew and half siblings Elsie,Elizabeth-Ann,Ada,John George,good to find another cousin,I live in Ayr/Scotland,left Durham in 1972.

Thank you for replying to my message. I have managed to get my grandas death certificate and it says he died from TB. I have spoke to my mam again and she said all she knows is that he was in hospital for a year before he died. And the last memories she had was she was taken to the hospital to say goodbye when she was 3 years old and she had to see him though a window cause she wasn't aloud in and he waved to her and told her he loved her. After that my mam was brought up by her grandparents on her mams side. She has gone all her life wanting to know about her dad all she has is 1 photo of him in uniform. So she was over the moon when I told her you had replied. James william wigham is buried in tudhoe cemetery in Spennymoor and the hospital which he died was wolsingham sanatorium in 1954. My parents and me and my sister all live in Spennymoor country durham.

Good to see your reply,I recall my Dad telling me that my Grandma Wigham went to a sanatorium to visit someone,I don't remember him giving me a name,so pleased your Mum was happy about my post,I have all the Wigham Tree,also Grandma's Stellings and Gott side too,would be happy to do you a tree with added detail about the family,I knew my Grandma was born at Fishermans Cottage,which by the way is no where near the river wear.

I have cousins in Spennymoor,my oldest cousin lives at Wolsingham,he may know more detail,I will contact him to see what he can do,he was born around 1942 so may know something,so sad for your Mum,who is actually my cousin now too,will pm you my email address and if you would like to have detail/tree etc we can do it that way.
