Hi,

On his attestation papers he gives his nok as Mrs. Florrie (?) Osbaldiston, Coteau Junction,
Quebec. Not seeing a marriage but,

There is a baptism on December 11, 1914, Parish Ste. Cecile, Valleyfield, Quebec of Joseph
Albert Osbaldiston, son of Joseph Osbaldiston and Florrie (?)artley. He signs...and it is the
same signature as his attestation papers.

Perhaps that's why he had a bit of a name change. ???

Cheers,
DB

There is a City Directory entry for Joseph in 1941 and the WW2 draft 1942 but nothing for Joseph so far after that date.  ???

Sandra

You're very welcome. It would be nice to find the death record but records for that time frame are not available in some states. Or even find him on a UK return passenger list.

Hello Silver Cloud,

I found these posts and was fascinated to read the information. I am descended from Joseph and his first wife, Maria Smithies.  Their daughter Clara was my grandmother.  Clara was born in Horton, Bradford in 1912, just a year before Joseph left for Canada.  The fact he left England at all only became known to me this morning, so the further information that I have learned has come as quite a surprise.  It is sad to learn that my grandmother never had the chance to know her father.  I have learned something of Josephs family history, going back to the mid 1700's.

I have several names I am interested in at the moment, and now know that relatives on both my mothers side and my fathers side moved to Canada and the US.

Kind regards,

Penny
