Sorry I forgot to say it looks like Norhouse to me but I was just giving advice about pronunciation sometimes making a difference to spellings.

Newhouse
Applegarth and Sibbaldie in Dumfriesshire

I have now enlarged it on home comp & also realising it was close to the border of England it looks as though the person writing it changed their mind from a "o" to an "e" & it looks like Newhouse which in an "English Accent" could very well sound like "Nowhouse" i.e. I am quite confident it is actually Newhouse  ;D

I don't know if this is any help to you but I just Googled Moorhouse, Applegarth, Dumfriesshire and this came up:

I didn't read it all but the name Wilson is in there.

Nowhouse or Morhouse ............. could be either (said in an English accent) & be Newhouse or Moorhouse so now I'm confused  ???

Are there any other documents which could sway it  :-\

Sorry  ::)

The link I gave above contains the phrase:
David1 WILSON was born 1675 in of Muirhouse, Applegarth, Dumfries
and lists various names with the 4th generation being:
10. James4 WILSON (David3, John2, David1) was born 08 Feb 1802 in

Lots more names and generations in the link.

This is my ex husband's family and I am not too sure of who everyone is - but from later census records I have established that she was born in 1817 so I don't think any of these fir -The census records state born Tinwald - can't find any of those, but found one recorded quite close (I think) at Kirkmahoe - someone tell me if this is possible - )

12 Jan 1817 Janet Lawful daughter of James Wilson and Catherine Fillon -   Possibly this is more likely - but really I am running around in the dark.  I was interessted in the previous clip to see if it meant illegitimate of not  - not that I was sure it was the right one.

Pretty sure that link isn't correct Roofer.  Thanks for looking everyone - I really appreciate the time you are spending.
