Help finding Ellen Brady (immigrated to Montreal from Ireland in 1927)

I have the shipping records for them all landing in Montreal on the S.S. Athenial on 15 May 1927.  One brother, Joseph, was in the Merchant Navy during the war and died on July 15, 1943 when his ship, the S.S. Empire Lake was torpedoed.  I don't have an actual obituary for him, just information found on the Internet.  The other brother, Thomas, my father, died in New Zealand in 1990 and there is no mention of Ellen in his obituary.  Norma

Hi Linda.  I do know the date - 10 August 1961.  I have a copy of the death certificate, but this version just gives DOB  23 Feb. 1877 and DOD, no family particulars.  Given that Ellen was nowhere around, Joseph was dead, and Thomas, my father was living in New Zealand at the time of his father, John Andrew Brady's death in Montreal, I'm not sure there would have been an obituary - and I don't know where to start finding out where he may have been buried, although even knowing that probably wouldn't bring me any closer to Ellen.  Thanks.  Norma

Wow, you're good - that sounds promising as his wife was Margaret (Maggie) Reilly - I know O was sometimes added.
I'm not sure why I wrote 10 August (late night typing error???) as his certificate does say August 9, 1961.
You don't mention the cemetery with John's info - is it the Notre Dame de Neiges that you mention with Emily's info? (In the documents that I have for Ellen - census, shipping record, birth certificate, there is no reference to Emily as an alternative name, so I'm not sure about her being the one buried there).
Do you know anything about the place John is buried?  I have always imagined him being in a nameless grave as he likely had no family and no money, so I'm wondering if Lot 01961 is that kind of area - perhaps a paupers' area for the 1961 deaths, or am I reading too much into it?

Same cemetery.  Because both sides of my family lived in the Montreal area for generations, this is a good resource for me.  Their web site is really easy to use.

You can broaden your search to that plot and see who else is buried there.  They would all be connected.

Thanks for the link.  I also found some info about the FT section - refers to Fosse Temporaire, used by the poor working classes to rent (temporaire) a lot for 10 years, so there won't be a physical trace of him at the site, but fantastic to know the location.  It would appear that he is the only one at the site as his wife, Maggie, died in Ireland in 1917.  Norma
