If all else fails could you do screen captures of the tree section by section.I've never seen an Ancestry tree so maybe a daft idea.You would than have all the info to rebuild on your PC using a family tree program or, as I have, using Excell.

no I don't need to be able to work on it in the same way that I do currently, I don't mind reverting back to using books and such like, I just need something to store it on so I don't loose all the info I currently have
