I think the nearest I have on my laptop is to use paint to get that effect

You can also use Office.org version which is free.

dawnkaren - there are a few family history programs that you can download for free.  One of them is Legacy.  I've got the de-luxe version that I paid for, but my husband has the basic free one.  Unless you are computer savvy and want to do lots of clever things with your tree, the free one is ideal.  You can copy your ancestry tree to gedcom and then add it to Legacy.  You can work on it as much as you like and it won't cost you anything.

Good luck dawnkaren - lots of Rootschatters use Legacy so if you have any problems with it just ask.

I cannot see the problem, even if you are not a paid member of ancestry you can access your tree, you can alter it, add to it or take  from it. You can even start a new tree, all without being a paid member, You cannot access ancestry's records is all.
